WAYLAND: Robert J. Doran, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 1, 2016.
He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on January 24, 1931 the older son of the late Joseph F. Drongoski and Victoria (Kaskie) Drongoski.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Kathleen M. (O’Clery) Doran. Beloved father of Judith D. Cunningham and her husband Brian of Hopkinton; Robert M. Doran and his wife Janeane of Texas, Lori D. Hamner and her husband Alan of New York and the late Cynthia J. Whitney of New York. Cherished grandfather of Daniel and Sean Cunningham; Casandra (Whitney) Prygocki and her husband Joseph; Jenna, Caroline, Mitchell and Alexander Doran; and Kylund and Connor Arnold. Devoted brother of David Doran and his wife Linda of Framingham. He is also survived by seven nieces and nephews.
Bob has been a resident of Wayland for over 50 years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Physics from Fairfield University and also earned Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Management from Northeastern University. After earning his undergraduate degree, Bob spent four years in the U.S. Navy and continued with the Naval Reserves. He spent his entire business career with GTE Sylvania, working with them for over 35 years prior to his retirement.
Bob was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Church in Wayland along with his wife Kathy. He was an avid gardener of all types of vegetables, bushes, trees and flowers. Many of his family and friends were the recipients of beautiful cuttings from his yard. Most importantly, he was extremely devoted to his family and took great pride in their accomplishments.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
His Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 10:00 o’clock at Good Shepherd Parish at St. Ann’s Church, 124 Cochituate Road (Rte 27), Wayland.
Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
