Obituary

Solvell, Lena Kristina 62, of Wellesley passed from this beautiful life into the peace of Heaven on March 31, 2016 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Lena was the beloved wife of Stefan Solvell for over 34 years and loving mother of her cherished children, Anna Solvell of Dallas, TX, and Erik Solvell of Wellesley, MA.

Lena was born in Uppsala, Sweden on September 14th, 1953 to Ingalill Rombin and the late Lars Rombin. She resided in Sweden and Germany for the first 3 decades of her life, where she met and married her true love and best friend, Stefan Solvell on July 25th, 1981 in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Lena moved to the United States in 1981 with her husband where she became extremely passionate and engaged in Swedish culture within the Boston community. She was actively involved in the Swedish Women’s Education Association (SWEA) for 30 years, was Headmaster at the Swedish School of Boston from 1986 to 1996 and started a Swedish book club in 1983, which remains active today. Lena worked for Jordan’s Furniture for 18 years where she built a strong circle of customers and friends who will miss her dearly.

Lena was a lover of life and was fulfilled most with her husband and children by her side. Referred to by a friend as the “Swedish Princess Diana” her grace and beauty was undeniable. She had the ability to light up a room with her smile and would fill any room she entered with an abundance of love and laughter. Some of her favorite times spent with her family were in their residence in Wellesley, MA and vacationing in Cape Cod and Jamestown, RI during the summer months. As Lena would often say, “This is life, and life is good.”
Lena is survived by her husband Stefan Solvell, her children Anna and Erik Solvell, by her mother, Ingalill Rombin and two sisters, Eva Rombin and Anna Sundback of Gothenburg, Sweden.

Friends and family are welcomed to join Lena’s family to celebrate her life at St. Mary’s Episcopalian Church, 258 Concord St, Newton Lower Falls, MA 02462 on Wednesday April 13th, 2016 at 11 A.M. A Reception immediately following will be held at the Scandinavian Living Center, 206 Waltham St, West Newton, MA 02465.
