Richard H. Whitton Sr.
…Saint’s Memorial Medical staff, formerly of Dracut; 61
Cape Canaveral, FL - Richard H. Whitton Sr, 61, of Cape Canaveral FL and Bretton Woods, NH passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, FL on March 13, 2016 after a courageous battle with heart failure.
He was born on February 14, 1955 in Lowell, MA son of the late Robert E Whitton and Edith (Stevens) Whitton.
Richard graduated from Dracut High School in 1973. After graduation he was employed at Saints Memorial Medical, Lowell MA for 40 years in the dietary department and later as Executive Chef.
Richard was married to Barbara (Fijalkowski) his best friend and sweetheart of 41 years. He loved the Beatles and idolized John Lennon. Richard was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, enjoyed coin collecting and cooking for all his friends. He enjoyed hiking and skiing in the White Mountains of NH and loved walking the beach in Florida. Richard will be known for his “Bumblebee” Camaro and always joking to find humor in everything. Most of all Richard loved being a grandfather to his beloved grandsons. He leaves a legacy of love for his grandsons Jack and Ethan. He loved being a “Pop”.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Fijalkowski) Whitton, his daughter Robyn (Whitton) Meckel and husband Brendan of Cape Canaveral, FL, and a son Richard Whitton Jr. of Stuart, FL; two grandsons, Jack and Ethan Meckel of Cape Canaveral FL; two sisters Elaine Linscott and husband Robert of Dracut MA, Carol Carrigg and her husband Jerry of Tewksbury MA; two brothers Robert Whitton and wife Louann of Derry NH, and Steven Whitton and wife Lauren of Hudson NH. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and many close friends.
Memorial visiting hours will be held Saturday, June 18, from 1:00 until 3:30 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER. Memorial Prayers and family remembrances will be held a 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
