Bavicchi, Dorothy E. (Berg) age 91, of Brookline died peacefully after a brief period of hospitalization on March 19, 2016. She was born in Dedham, daughter of George Berg and Emily Berg (Zirak). An honor graduate of Dedham High School, Dorothy then attended Boston University where she was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and Kappa Delta Sorority. After graduating, she worked for the Boston Public Library, earning the title of Children's Librarian. During her 43 year career she worked at Hyde Park, Mt Pleasant, and Parker Hill branches. She also spent 26 years at the West Roxbury branch where her teddy bear story hours were renowned. She enjoyed gourmet cooking, reading mysteries, and planning many international and domestic travel adventures.
She was pre deceased by her husband John Bavicchi, her brother Robert Berg, and her parents. She is survived by her daughter Janet Bavicchi of New London, NH, her sister-in-law Germaine Berg of Dedham, MA, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Barbara Iafolla of Portsmouth, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
