Mrs. Wanda A. (Folcik) Widak, of Taunton, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 31 at Morton Hospital. She was the wife of the late Stanley A. Widak. She was born 86 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Bzdula) Folcik. She was educated in Taunton and had been a city resident for most of her life, residing in Pawtucket, R.I. for a short time. Prior to her retirement, Wanda had been employed as a Home Health Aide for the Taunton Visiting Nurse Association for 17 years. She was previously employed as a waitress at the former Sankey’s Café in Taunton, and had formerly been employed at both Eureka Manufacturing and the Whittenton Garment Corp. She was a member of the Polish National Alliance, the Catholic Order of Foresters, the Taunton Eagles Club, the Association for Retarded Citizens, the Holy Rosary Church Choir and was a Polish Picnic volunteer. Wanda was also former Vice President of the Taunton Golden Agers. She was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Church.
She leaves: 1 daughter: Linda Gouveia and her husband, John of Taunton; 1 son: Michael Widak of Taunton, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Edward Folcik of Norton, Helen Gudinas and Josephine Oliveira both of Taunton.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Wednesday, April 6 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
