Alcides Andrade, 86, of New Bedford died Tuesday March 29, 2016 at Alden Court Nursing Home after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Madalena (DaCosta) Andrade.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the son of the late Thomas F. and Arminda (Oliveira) Andrade, he lived in New Bedford since 1963.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mr. Andrade was formerly employed by Brittany Dyeing and Printing Company for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Ideal Club in Bridgewater and the Teamsters Union, Local 59.
Survivors include two sons, Lucas Andrade and his wife Eliza, and Tomas Andrade, all of New Bedford; his siblings, Cizela Gonsalves and Beatriz Castro, both of New Bedford, and Jose F. Andrade of Brazil; a grandson, Joshua Andrade and his wife Elaine; a great-granddaughter, Nari Madeline Andrade; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joao DeDeus Andrade, Joao DeJesus Andrade, Margarida Macedo, Maria Barbosa, Belaminda Valles, and Irisalva Rodrigues.
His Funeral will be held on Monday at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM.
