Obituary

Martinez – Mr. Mitt E. Nicholson, age 89, beloved husband of 68 years of Mrs. Sylvia Prince Nicholson, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Doctors Hospital, after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Platt’s Belair Chapel with the Rev. Frank Prince officiating. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until the time of service.

Mr. Nicholson was born in Gaffney, S.C., and moved to Abbeville at a very young age. He was the son of the late Milton Clinton Nicholson and the late Maude Rankin Nicholson. Mitt served in the US Army during World War II, as well as two of his brothers and a brother in law. He had worked at Dupont at the Savannah River Site for 34 years, retiring in December of 1985 as a senior supervisor.

In addition to his wife, Sylvia, he is survived by his daughter; Gale Williamson (Carl), a granddaughter; Carla, two grandchildren; Tanner Williamson and Amber Clark, a brother; Frank Nicolson of Abbeville, a sister in law; Mrs. W.R. (Annette) Nicolson and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Roderic, Jack and W.R. “Bill” Nicholson and a sister; Frances N. Bingen.
