Shirley R. (Doane) Cornell, 80, of Fall River, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Lawrence E. Cornell.
Mrs. Cornell was born and raised in Swansea, daughter of the late Edward B. and Gladys (Bowden) Doane. A graduate of Joseph Case High School, she worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. M.A. Denby of Warren, RI, Dr. Richard W. Chaikin of Falmouth, Dr. John D. Dresser of White River Junction, VT and Dr. Allen Schenk of Harrisville, RI until her retirement. Mrs. Cornell also worked for several years as a demonstrator for Mackenzie Associates and C.A. Courtley Demos and was a representative for Hallmark Cards. She was a former member of Christ Church in Swansea.
Survivors along with her husband her 2 daughters: Kathie D. Cornell of Kittery, ME and Laurie B. Ryone of Smithfield, RI; her 2 sons: Gregg D. Cornell of Pascoag, RI and Scott D. Cornell of Attleboro; her brother: Darryl Doane of Fall River; 4 granddaughters: Rachel Cornell, Marilla Cornell. Kaidy Cornell and Lila Ryone; 3 grandsons: Isaiah Cornell, Benjamin Cornell and Jacob Ryone; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Edward B. Doane, Keith L. Doane and Georgianna Cariglia.
Memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Potter Funeral Home at 12:30 P.M.
Visitation will be from 10 - 12:30 prior to the service.
