Obituary

FRAMINGHAM: John R. “Jack” Columbus, 75, died on March 24, 2016 following a brief illness.
He was born on October 29, 1940 the son of the late John F. Columbus and Esther Mary (Lawrence) Columbus.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet D. (Crowe) Columbus of Framingham. Devoted father of Phyllis Supernor of Tempe, AZ and Vickie J. Paine of Cochituate. Grandfather of Kimberly Oller and her husband Jamie of Milford; Amy Supernor of Millis and Rebecca Paine of Royalston. Brother of Jo Ann Columbus and her companion Paul Pereira of Chester, NH and Ernest Columbus and his wife Deidra Columbus of Marlborough, the late Marjorie Clark and E. Janet Lloyd. Also survived by one great-grandson Antonio Oller and 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
Jack spent his earlier years in Cochituate and was educated through the Wayland School system. He retired after 36 years of dedicated service to the Town of Wayland as a Grader Operator as well as a heavy equipment operator with the highway department. Jack also served the Town of Wayland on the Auxiliary Fire and Police Departments. In his youth, he was active in the Boy Scouts. He loved fishing and stock car racing over the years. Jack was a loving husband to his wife Janet and devoted to his daughters and his entire family.
At the request of Jack’s family there will be no funeral home visitations. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Lawrence family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Commonwealth Rd (Rte 30) in Cochituate.
In lieu of flowers, his family personally requests that all donations in Jack’s memory be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
