POCASSET – Nuno A. Lacerda, husband of Cecilia (Silva) Lacerda, of Pocasset, died at the McCarthy Care Center in E. Sandwich, on Monday, March 28, 2016. He was 67.
Born in Pico, Azores, he was the son of the late Alberto and Francisca (Dias) Lacerda.
Nuno served in the Portuguese Army receiving the Purple Heart during the Angolan Civil War.
He moved to this area in 1972 and was employed by the Raynham Dog Track, retiring in 1983.
Besides his wife of 44 years, he is survived by two sons, Ruben Lacerda and his wife Michelle of Taunton and Michael Lacerda of Pocasset; three sisters, Maria Ivone Dutra and Maria Alberta both from the Azores and Maryjo Azevedo of FL; two grandsons, Tyler and Trevor Lacerda, both of Taunton; his godchild, Rui Dutra of Pocasset; and his niece, Anna Silveira of CA.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, April 4th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 3rd from 4 to 7 p.m.
