Mary E. Gonsalves, a Lifelong resident of Woburn passed away peacefully, Monday, March 28, 2016, at her home following a short period of declining health. She was 97 years of age. Born in Woburn she was one of seven children of the late Joseph F. and Angelina (Gomes-Pestana) Gonsalves.
Mary was a raised and educated in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School. She worked for many years in Boston at the Jordan Marsh Department Store where she was the manager of the lingerie department. As a young lady, Mary was a talented dancer and for several years she danced professionally. Mary enjoyed listening to music throughout her life and cherished spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed time together with her sisters going out shopping or to have dinner. Mary was always greeted people with a smile and was always pleasant to be around. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mary was the beloved sister of Julie Perez and her husband Pedro of New York City, NY, the late John Gonsalves and his surviving wife Jeannie Gonsalves of Woburn, Irene Gonsalves, Joseph Gonsalves Jr., Ernest Gonsalves and his surviving wife Jean of Woburn, and Agnes Gonsalves. Mary is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, March 31st, at 12 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and visit with the family prior to the service starting at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
