James G. Rutherford, 1926-2016
Although we loved him dearly we could not make his stay.
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of James G. (Jim) Rutherford;
Loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and good friend who went peacefully to his heavenly rest on March 29, 2016.
Jim was born on January 18, 1926 in Anna, Texas the youngest of five sons of H.P. and Harriett G. (Greer) Rutherford. He was a four sport high school athlete with offers of college scholarships but World War II took him to Europe where he served in the U.S. Army in a Forward Recon Troop until the war’s end. Upon returning from the war he married his “Sweetheart”, Betty Jane Rasmussen. They were married for fifty-three years.
He is survived by a sister Laura James, a son John Rutherford (Juanita), Granddaughter Laura Rutherford, Granddaughter Julie (Joel) Dickson, Grandson John (Carol) Rutherford, Granddaughter Elizabeth (James) Hall, as well as great-grand children, Crystal Washington, Carolyn Kleider, Alisha Dickson, Charlotte Dickson, Samantha Hall, James Hall, Ava Hall and great-great-grand-children, Erika Arenas, Jazmin Arenas, Abigail Arenas and Mya Washington, niece, Marjean Allen. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and his great-grandson Connor James Rutherford.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours to be held on Friday April 1, 2016 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME, 757 E. Main Street Ventura, where a Most Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Funeral Home with interment immediately following in Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
