
CHICOPEE – Yolande (Griffault) Phelps, 96, formerly of the Fairhaven Apartments in the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Holy Saturday, March 26, 2016. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at East Longmeadow surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Paris, France on February 15, 1920 a daughter of the late Clemence Griffault and Simone (Vatin) Griffault. She was raised in France and came to the United States around 1947. She was employed at the former A. G. Spalding Company in Chicopee and had also worked as a cook and housekeeper at various Catholic Church rectories in Holyoke. She was predeceased by her husband, Owen P. Phelps; and her son, Michael A. Bourgeois. She leaves her two children, John P. Phelps and his wife, Norma, of Willington, CT and Jacqueline Lietl and her husband, Paul, of Ocala, FL; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday morning, April 4, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. which will be followed by a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the service at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
