Obituary

Gary Howe Wilson, 60, of Acushnet passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Susan Cochran Wilson; they were married for almost 37 years.

Born in Binghamton, NY, the son of the late Stuart Field Wilson and Joyce Jarnagin Wilson, he lived in the Chicago, IL area and Spokane, WA, before moving to Acushnet.

Gary received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Miami University in Ohio and his Master of Business Administration degree from Lake Forest College in Illinois.

He was employed as an engineer and manager for American Dental Supply, American V. Mueller, American Sign and Indicator, and Johnson and Johnson, for twenty-nine years. His last position was Facility Manager and Construction Engineer at Depuy Synthes, a division of Johnson and Johnson, in Raynham, MA.

Gary coached his three sons in the AYAA Baseball and Basektball leagues as well as Mariner Youth Soccer. He served as a member of the Acushnet Park Board and several committees at the First Congregational Church of Fairhaven.

He enjoyed woodworking, getting his hands dirty and being a "Jack of all trades". He loved golfing, skiing, boating and traveling with his wife and family. He also loved driving the family's 1930 Model "A" Ford car and was an avid New England sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; three sons, Bradley Cochran Wilson and his wife Sydney Burns Wilson, Corey Howe Wilson and his wife Camilla McMillan Wilson, and Scott Richeson Wilson and his girlfriend Katherine Jane Swan; his stepmother, Nancy Stone Wilson; his father-in-law, James Richeson Cochran; a brother, Craig F. Wilson and his wife Susan B.; a sister Susan W. Craig and her husband David L.; a sister-in-law, Janet C. Meffert and her husband Robert F., Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Frederick L. Cochran and his wife Leslie L. and James C. Cochran and his wife Elizabeth B.; and nine nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Nancy Lewis Cochran.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the doctors and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center/Center for Melanoma, as well as Hope Hospice.

A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held on Friday, April 1st at 10:30 AM at the First Congregational Church of Fairhaven, 34 Center St., Fairhaven. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett.
