Obituary

Guthrie, Hugh, 88, Midland, MI formally of Louisville, passed away Saturday March 26, 2016.

He was native of Albany, KY in Clinton County, KY and a former member of the former Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He met and married Gladys Brumett while attending Lindsay Wilson College and they were married for 64 years. He graduated from LWC in 1952 and taught in a one room school for one year while farming in Albany, KY. Hugh and Gladys moved back to Louisville, five years later to farm on the Kennedy farm in Valley Station for five years. Hugh then started working for Greyhound as a driver and retired after more than 30 years.

Survivors include: two sons Barry Guthrie (Pam) of Knoxville, TN and Dr. Dennis Guthrie (Jocelyn) of Hope, MI; one brother Gene Guthrie; four grandchildren, Tara (Zeb) Overton, Adam (Sonya) Guthrie, Bartholomew Guthrie, Caleb (Christin) Guthrie; and six great-grandchildren, Bryan Lester, Jason Lester, Keegan Guthrie, Evan Guthrie, Madison Guthrie and Micah Guthrie. He was preceded in death by his sister Jimmie Szarka and brothers Kendrick, Clyde, Ray, Elmer, Herbert, John and his parents Clarence and Ernest.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday April 2 at Owen Funeral Home 5317 Dixie Hwy. with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens also on Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday April 1 at Owen Funeral Home.
