Master Sgt. Fred R. Scarbo, USAF (Retired), 86 died Monday March 21, 2016 in Bradenton, FL. Fred was born and raised in Dorchester, MA, a son of the late Joseph and Rosilda (Roberts) Scarbo. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Marjorie (Harvey) Scarbo in 2008. He enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, FL and summering in Derry, NH.
He enlisted in the US Air Force in July 1948 and served in Okinawa, Japan, Korea, France, Germany and England along with various stateside installations until he retired in July 1969. After his retirement from the Air Force, he resided in Tewksbury, MA where he worked with Raytheon until 1989. At that time he retired to Springhill, FL where he met many good friends who liked to participate in his favorite past time of playing cards and golfing.
He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Allen and her husband Bruce of Derry, his son, Dwayne Scarbo and his partner Tom Winters of Bradenton, three grandchildren, Sara Allen, Bruce Allen, Jr. “BJ”, and Jeremy Allen, all of Derry, three great-grandchildren, Teagan, Dakota, and Coralie. Fred also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, calling hours were held on Saturday April 16, 2016 from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Veterans of Foreign War.
