Family and friends celebrate the life of Joan Foley Millsom, a lifelong summer resident of Groton Long Point, and a 30-year resident of Newtown Square, PA, who died Wednesday after a short illness. She is survived by her husband, Williams Millsom, her son and his wife, Geoffrey and Sonia Millsom, and her grandchildren Anita and Veronica Millsom. She is also survived by her sons, Kevin and Adam Millsom, her sister and her husband, Kate and Mel Romani as well as 6 nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Kevin and Kay Foley.
Joan graduated from Windham High School in Willimantic and earned degrees from Marymount College in New York and Villanova University in Pennsylvania. She was a dedicated and caring health care professional who served the needs of the homebound in the Philadelphia Main Line area. Joan gave volunteer service in countless ways in Newtown Square and at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton. Joan was also an active member of the Stonington Country Club.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Wednesday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, Groton Long Point Rd, Groton on Thursday at 1pm.
