Obituary

Marcelo Tiotangco Ladia, Jr., 44, of Mystic died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 20 years, Tisha (Reichert) Ladia, and children Marcelo T. Ladia III and Gabrielle Nelia Ladia.

He was born on April 27, 1971, the son of Marcelo T. Ladia Sr. and the late Helen (Saurin) Ladia. He grew up in Ledyard, graduating from Ledyard High School in 1989. He was the owner of The Fix It Guy!!! LLC.

He was a member of the Stonington Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, a lifetime member of the Ledyard Volunteer Fire Department, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church in Groton, and a member of ACTS. Marcelo was very actively involved with youth sports volunteering as a coach for Ledyard softball and football leagues, Fitch softball, and St. Bernard's softball teams.

In addition to his wife, children and father, Marcelo, Jr. is survived by his grandchildren, Marcelo T. Ladia IV, and Joshua David Placenza. He is also survived by his brothers Mike Arias of Los Angeles, CA, Jim Farrales of Madison, CT, Marcus Ladia of Oakdale, CT and sister Marci Ladia Heroux of Hope Valley, RI, as well as fifteen nieces and nephews.

His family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, April 1, from 6 to 8pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00am at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton. Burial will be private for the family.

Marcelo Jr's passion for living was marked by embracing each and every day and he will always be remembered as someone who was always there for others.
