Dartmouth – William Arruda, Jr., age 88 of Dartmouth formerly of New Bedford, passed away at The Residence at Cedar Dell on Sunday, March 27, 2016. He was the loving husband of the late Alice (Rebello) Arruda and the son of the late William and Yvonne (Parent) Arruda, Sr.
William was born in New Bedford and worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 33 years until his retirement.
Mr. Arruda proudly served our country in the United States Navy during WWII.
His family includes a daughter, Kathleen Andrade and her husband, Gil; of Woburn, Ma; 2 grandchildren: Gregory Andrade and Michael Andrade, of Woburn, Ma; 3 siblings: Colleen Costa of Dartmouth, Jeannette Rodrigues of New Bedford and Charlie Arruda of Dartmouth; an aunt, Beatrice Jasmin of Dartmouth as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Arruda was predeceased by his siblings: Shirley Chase and Arthur Arruda.
Mr. Arruda will be cremated. Visitation will be held Friday April 8th in the funeral home from 10:30 - 11:30 A.M. with a service to begin at 11:30 A.M. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
