Obituary

John M. Long, 60, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Saturday March 26th. He was the beloved husband of Elise (Hammond) Long.

He was born in Brockton, son of Rita (Harrington) Long and the late Frances Long. John was a graduate of Whitman–Hanson High School class of 1973 and married the love of his life, Elise, on August 23, 1975; they celebrated their 40th anniversary, in 2015.

He built his own construction company, which he ran for the last 30 years.

John was an avid reader with the love for history. He also loved the Patriots and was very passionate about politics, loved summer on the lake and his dog Teddy. John will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

In addition to his wife of 40 years Elise, he is survived by his children Stacy Warner and her husband David of CA., Michael J. Long and his wife Michele Long of Easton, Cory P. Long and his fiancée Laura R. Smith of Lakeville, 2 grandchildren, Addisyn and Jack; also survived by his siblings, Janet Long, Jeanne Holmgren and her husband John, Cathleen Harkins and her husband George, Edward Long and his wife Nancy, Maura Donohue and her husband Craig and Francis and Theresa Long, many nieces and nephews.

His funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 30th at 11:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle) Whitman. Visitation will be held on Tuesday March 29th from 4:00-8:00PM. Donations may be made in his name to the Old Colony Hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368
