Grace E. (Lawton) Silva, 83, of Westport died Thursday, March 24, 2016 at home. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Silva.
Born in Westport, daughter of the late Arthur L. and Ruth A. (Brayton) Lawton, she was a lifelong resident of Westport. She was a 1953 graduate of the former Truesdale School of Nursing in Fall River. A registered nurse, she worked for the Town of Westport Nursing Department and the former Harborview Manor Nursing Home in S. Dartmouth. Mrs. Silva was a member of the Truesdale School of Nursing Alumni, Charlton Retirees, Westport Historical Society, Friends of Westport Council on Aging and the American Legions Auxiliary Post 145 of Westport, where she served as treasurer for over 20 years. She was also a former member of the Pacific Union Congregational Church, Westport.
Survivors include 2 sons: David J. Silva of Westport and George A. Silva of Westport; a step-son: Stephen J. Silva of E. Hartford, CT; a brother: Richard A. "Red" Lawton of Westport; 3 grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Esther A. Benich.

Memorial graveside service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, April 1, 2016 at Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
