Alice A. (Jacobs) Bateman, 97, a longtime resident of Hudson and has spent the past 3 years residing with her daughter Susan and husband James Phaneuf in Milford, died on Wednesday, March 23rd surrounded by her loving family at Countryside Healthcare in Milford. She was the loving wife of 55 years to the late Robert N. Bateman who died in 1997.
Alice was born and raised in Hudson, daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Jacobs. She cherished her role as a mother and caring for their home. She looked forward to spending time with her family, especially later with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed reading. She was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sally Thoman of Northwood, NH and Susan Phaneuf and her husband James of Milford. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Bateman in 2005 and her son Robert Bateman in 2012. She is also survived by her siblings, Paul Jacobs of Hudson, Beverly Loureiro of Burlington, CT, Richard Jacobs of Warren, CT, Carol Rooney of Hudson; her grandchildren, Marc, Joshua and Kali Fayton, Ryan and Clancey Bateman, Christopher Thoman and his wife Jolene, Stephanie Smith and her husband Ryan; her 6 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Donald, Roy, Harold, Charlie, John, Joe, Raymond and Edward Jacobs and Eleanor MacLaughlan, Muriel Barteaux and Jeanette Rogers.
Family and friends may attend calling hours on Saturday, March 26th from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson.
