Roger E. Ouellette, 88, of Salem, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Salem Hospital / NSMC following a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Eleanor M. (Burkinshaw) Ouellette with whom he had shared 63 Years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Paul T. and Ida (Caron) Ouellette. A veteran of World War II, he served stateside with the U.S. Army Air Force with the 3502 Base Unit, Squad G. Following his tour of duty he returned to Salem and worked as a professional finish carpenter. He retired in 1989 from Brockway-Smith (distributors of windows and doors) where he worked in specialized custom work.
Roger’s two great passions were for his wife and family and model boat building.
His award winning models have been exhibited in many places including the Topsfield Fair. He was also a great lover of nature, and with his family, enjoyed many of New England’s favorite scenic destinations. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
In addition to his wife Eleanor, he is survived by three daughters, Donna M. Keegan and her husband Stephen of Gloucester, Patricia A. Paradis and her husband Frank of Beverly, and Carol A. Sachs of Newburyport, He also leaves five grandchildren, Megan Keegan, Ryan & Evan Paradis and Thomas & David Sachs, a brother, Henry P. Ouellette and his wife Laurie of Kittery, ME, as well as nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visiting hours on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. His funeral will be on Tuesday, March 29th at 10:00 A.M. in St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem. Burial will be private. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Mass.
