Susan Tavares-Freitas, 67, of New Bedford died Wednesday March 23, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Julia (Rezendes) Tavares and the late Julio Tavares, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was affiliated with Full Blessings Ministry.
Susan enjoyed caring for her family and others, and helped raise many children throughout the years.
Survivors include her mother; four sons, Shawn J. Oliver, Brian K. Oliver, Jason J. Oliver, and Jeremy J. Hotte; her stepdaughter, Marion Hotte; two brothers, Alan J. Tavares and Robert Tavares; two sisters, Annette L. Mello and Robin M. LaJoie; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many foster children, nieces, and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Kenneth J. Tavares.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday March 26, 2016 at 3 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with visitation from 1-3 PM prior to the service.
