Alfred H. LaPrade, Sr., 88, formerly of Ashton Court, Harrisville, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Nancy Ann Convalescent Home in Foster. He was the beloved husband of Annette Y. (Couette) LaPrade. They had been married for 65 years.
Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Alfred J. and Elizabeth (Guertin) LaPrade. He had lived in Smithfield for 22 years before moving to Chepachet in 1976 and most recently, Burrillville.
He was a former member of the Smithfield Sportsmen’s Club, the Cialo-LaPrade VFW Post, Johnston, the American Legion, Post 91, Mooseup, CT and at one time was a collector at St. Eugene’s Church in Chepachet.
He served in the US Army during WWII serving in the Philippines in transportation and mechanics. He retired from Brown & Sharpe and self-employment in 1987 and in 1990 began doing maintenance for Glocester Housing Authority.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children: Norma J. Murray of Chepachet, Susan M. Antonelli and her husband, Michael Antonelli of Chepachet and Alfred H. LaPrade, Jr. and his wife Denise C. LaPrade of North Scituate, his 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Robert E. LaPrade and brother of the late Irving and Edward LaPrade, Seamen 1st Class Arthur LaPrade, Lillian Loranger and Doris Gagnon
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday evening at 6:30 pm in Anderson-Winfield Home, Greenville. Visitation Monday 4-7pm. Burial private. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Eugene’s Church, PO Box A, Chepachet, RI 02814
