Obituary

SALEM – Dimo Akdeniz, 90, husband of Anna (Aslantas) Akdeniz, of Salem, died Monday morning, March 21, 2016 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers, with family by his side.

Born and raised in Turkey, he was the son of the late Trifon and Evdakia (Ural) Akdeniz. He worked for a time at a brick manufacturing plant in Germany before immigrating to the U.S. at the age of 38 and settling in Peabody. He later moved to Salem, and was employed at various leather shops in Peabody and Salem and retired from Salem Suede in 1990..

Dimo was a member of the Russian Aid Society in Salem and was an active member of the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Salem, where he was an alter server, custodian and reader.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage, he is survived by two daughters, Anastasia Akdeniz and her partner, David Pykosz, and Elena and her husband Alexander Moradi, all of Salem, grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Hannah Moradi of Los Angeles, CA, Natasha Ouellette of Beverly, Tatyana Janes and Sonya Pykosz of Salem, great grandchildren, Emma Ouellette, Mason Ouellette of Beverly, sisters, Anna Burak of Valley Cottage, NY, Elena and Anastasia Trifinov of Russia, brothers, Gregory and Nikifor Akdeniz of Russia, and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 4 to 6 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. His funeral will be held Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 11:30 am at the St. Sergius Russian Orthodox Church, Valley Cottage, NY, with a cemetery service to follow at the Novo-Diveyevo Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
