John B. Gately, 75, of East Walpole died on Friday, March 18, 2016 in the Golden Living Center of Norwood.
Born in Norwood, MA on July 31, 1940 he was the son of the late Mary Theresa (McCarthy) and Patrick Paul Gately. He was a lifelong resident of East Walpole.
John was a graduate of Walpole High School class of 1958 and graduated from Bentley College in 1965 with a BS in Accounting.
John had worked as an accountant for a number of businesses.
He was a proud Marine Corps Veteran.
In his spare time he loved having fun times on his boat in Falmouth. John was an avid Boston sports fan and also enjoyed following the Stock Market.
He is survived by his brother Paul J. Gately and his wife Mary Lou of Canton and his sisters Frances A. Gately of Braintree and Mary Martha Gately of East Walpole.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his former wife Christine (Thambash) Gately.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 29 at 9:15AM from the Ginley Funeral Home, 892 Main St., Walpole followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Mary Church, 176 Washington St., East Walpole.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 6-8PM in the funeral home.
