John B. Kelly, Sr., 79, of Fall River, formerly of Westport, died Friday, March 18, 2016 at home. Born in Fitchburg, MA, he was son of the late Bernard T. and Mary E. (Partington) Kelly. A 1957 graduate of Holy Cross, he was a teacher for the Westport School Department for several years until retirement. Mr. Kelly was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. He was a founding member of the Westport Swimming Program and a former Grand Knight of the Westport Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include a son: John B. Kelly, Jr. of Westport; 3 daughters: Elizabeth K. Washburn and her husband Richard of Westport, Kathleen L. Arvisais and her husband Kevin of Attleboro and Margaret M. Monteiro of Westport; 5 grandchildren: Amanda, Alyssa, Rachel, Erynne and Kyle; a great granddaughter: Riley; his former wife: Mary M. (Dalton) Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10 A.M.
Calling hours Tuesday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
