Obituary

NATICK: Robert M. Dubinsky, age 85, a longtime Natick resident currently of Hopkinton, died suddenly on Thursday afternoon, March 17, 2016, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was the devoted husband of Marie T. (Duprey) Dubinsky for 60 years.

Born in Boston, he was a son of the late Alice (Kurawski) Sellers and Charles Dubinskas. Bob was raised in Boston’s West End and a graduate of English High School. After working for a few years at the Boston Garden removing and replacing the parquet flooring for events, he enlisted in the Army. He served as a Private First Class with the 452nd AntiAircraft Battalion as a teacher in Europe during the Korean War.

Bob and Marie had met one night at Moseley’s on the Charles in Dedham. Their courtship, interrupted by the war, resumed and they were wed in 1955. The couple lived briefly in Millis prior to settling down in a house adjacent to Marie’s family Natick home. They had a penchant for dancing, particularly polkas and square dances. Enthusiastic travelers, their itineraries were often built as much around dancing as sightseeing.

Bob worked well into the 1960s as a television repairman and then for over thirty years as a Master Masker for Duralectra in Natick. An ardent library patron and avid reader, he enjoyed histories and biographies and was keen to share his love and knowledge of history with others. Family road trips often encompassed landmarks and Bob seemed to always have background information at hand. He was a great fan of the Red Sox and Bruins and had a statistician’s mind. His family’s love for Old Orchard Beach went back generations and he was happy to pass it on to the next.

He is survived by Marie; their children, Robert Michael Dubinsky and his wife Lynn of Hopkinton, John Dubinsky and his wife Carrie of Sutton, and Carol Gould, wife of the late Alan, of Medway; and their grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Daniel, Cierra, Dale, Reece, Kenneth, Melissa, Emily, and A.J.

His Funeral Service will be held in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, on Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:30PM preceded by visiting hours at 4:00PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
