Mary O. Jackson, 61

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Mary (O’Malley) Jackson, age 61, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Norwood Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Robert D. Jackson, to whom she was wed for 39 years.
Born in San Benito, Texas on September 19, 1954, she was a loving daughter of Bernard S. O’Malley of Mansfield and the late Alicia “Lee” (Mellon) O’Malley.
Mary grew up in town and was a 1972 graduate of Mansfield High School. She was a devout lifelong communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield.
Mary had worked for 20 years as the Secretary to the Superintendent of Schools in Mansfield, recently retiring in September of 2015. She was also a hairdresser and previously ran Mary’s Hair Boutique in downtown Mansfield.
Mary’s life was devoted to the loving care of her adoring family who were the stiches of her life. She especially treasured the times spent with her cherished grandchildren who she loved very much.
In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her devoted children William B. Jackson and his wife Jennifer of North Attleboro, Thomas O. Jackson and his wife Kelly of Attleboro and Caitlin A. Doherty and her husband William of Mansfield. She was the dear sister of Patrick J. O’Malley of Foxboro, Edward W. O’Malley of Mansfield, Kathleen O. Stearns of Maine, James Michael O’Malley of Illinois, Ellen O. VanHaaren of Rhode Island, Theresa O. Nevers of Mansfield and Alicia O. Yaghoobian of Mansfield. She was the cherished grandmother of William, Abigail, McKenna, Thomas, Alicia, Robert and James. Mary is also survived by many-many loving nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and her devoted in-laws who were very special to her.
Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 28th from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
