Carver – Luz (Ruiz) Escabi 88, a forty-five year resident of Carver, died Friday March 18 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Armando Vico.
Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Luz had moved to the United States in her twenties. In her early years she had worked as a talented seamstress, and in later years and prior to her retirement at the age of seventy-five she had worked as a printer.
She enjoyed bingo and trips to the casino, but her greatest joy was her home and the time spent working in her gardens, she will always be remembered for her yard filled with beautiful flowers.
She is survived by her children Sonia Escabi of Carver, Melvin Escabi of Derry, NH, Yvonne Smolinsky of Whitman and Roberto Escabi of Carver, her brothers Raymond Ruiz and Lenore Ruiz both of Boston and her sisters Carmen Hernandez of Boston and Lydia Hernandez of Plymouth. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Pastor Escabi, Jr.
Her funeral service will be held Wednesday March 23 at 7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 4:00-7:00 PM.
