Acushnet – Robert P. Hokanson, 72, of Acushnet passed away peacefully at home on March 17, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Pauline A. (LaFrance) Hokanson.
Mr. Hokanson was born in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Fritz and Sallie (Bagge) Hokanson, and resided in Acushnet most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era and served in the Dominican Republic with US. and International Peacekeeping forces after the Dominican Revolution in 1965. He was employed as a truck driver/warehouse man by United Liquors Ltd., Fairhaven until retiring due to illness. He loved football and enjoyed sport fishing, container gardening and bird watching.
In addition to his widow, he is survived by 2 brothers: Richard H. Hokanson and Carl G. Hokanson, both of Acushnet; and 3 nieces: Cheryl Hartman Oliveira of Martha's Vineyard, Donna Rhodes and Anna Busbee, both of SC. He was brother of the late Kenneth C. and William A. Hokanson.
