Obituary

Francis P. Harrigan, 84, of Franklin, died Friday, March 18, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy F. (Queenan) Harrigan who died in 2002.

Born in Melrose on May 13, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph V. and Helen (Murphy) Harrigan.

Mr. Harrigan was a resident of Franklin since 1960. He grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Central Catholic High School.

Retiring in 1995, Mr. Harrigan worked for the Phone Company for many years, most recently as a senior technician in special services for Verizon Telephone.

Mr. Harrigan was a former member of the Council On Aging and was very active at the Franklin Senior Center. He was an avid cribbage player.

He is survived by two sons, Francis P. Harrigan, II of Chelmsford and Timothy P. Harrigan of Baltimore, MD and two daughters, Judith M. Harrigan of Franklin and Maureen R. Harrigan Smith of Arlington, VA.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kaitlin, Lindsay, Michael, Delaney and Kylie Harrigan and Abigail and Jeremy Smith, Jr.

He was the brother of the late Helene Murphy and Joseph J. Harrigan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Wednesday, March 23 at St. Mary Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6 - 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in his memory to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
