Obituary

Jeannette R. Cournoyer, 69, of Woonsocket died peacefully Wednesday evening at home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Richard N. “Dick” Cournoyer. They were married on April 11, 1964. Jeannette and Dick shared almost 52 years of happiness together.
Born in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Adrien and Jeannette (Frappier) Craig. She was a lifelong resident of the city.
Jeannette worked for Almac’s supermarket for over 20 years. She was later employed at Putnam Investments in Franklin for many years before retiring.
Jeannette enjoyed spending time at the beach especially in the Newport area and in particular Second Beach in Middletown. She was a talented quilter and made wonderful lasting memories on numerous trips especially to Aruba and Florida.
Jeannette’s central devotion in life was to her family and large circle of friends, many of she considered part of her extended family. Affectionately known as “Nana” this moniker underscored the impact of Jeannette’s loving, caring, kind and radiant spirit to all those with whom she came in contact.
In addition to her husband of almost 52 years she is survived by a son Jeffrey H. Cournoyer and is wife, Sharon, of North Smithfield and a daughter Donna Marie Schrader and her husband, Adam, of Indiana. She was the sister of Leo Craig of Millbury, MA, Gloria Losardo of Woonsocket, Cecile Trant of Burrillville, Rachel Paoletta and Muriel Craig both of Providence. She is also survived by three grandchildren Emily, Victoria and Tyler, her mother-in-law Irene A. (Allard) Cournoyer and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Lorenzo Cournoyer.
Her funeral will be Tuesday at 9:00 am from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are Monday from 4-8 pm.
