Meredith-----Barbara A. Whittier 82, former longtime resident of Hoyt Court in Laconia, Died Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Golden View Health Care Center.
Barbara was born December 8, 1933 in Wolfebro, NH, daughter to the late Clyde and Florence A. (Hamm) Nichols. She graduated from Brewster Academy and later moved to Laconia where she met her husband. Barbara worked for many years running her own housekeeping business locally. She also was co-owner with her husband, of The Cafeteria restaurant on Canal street many years ago.
Barbara will be remembered most for her love of her cats, and spending time with her loving family and friends. She also enjoyed spending her summers at Hampton Beach, collecting dolls and other knick-knacks.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Medric H. Whittier Sr. of Laconia; her two sons, Argee E. Whittier and his wife, Rose and Antoine "Tony" P. Whittier and his companion Tammy Abbott, all of Laconia; her two daughters, Roxanne E. Whittier of Concord and Donna L. Garnett and her husband Ronald of New Hampton; she also aided in raising her granddaughter, Adonia Whittier of Colorado Springs, CO and thirteen other grandchildren, Abigail, Jennifer, Philip, Joshua, Nikole, Cara, Beth, Coralee, Matthew, Amanda, Gerome, Gizelle and JC; eighteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her son, Medric "Ricky" H. Whittier Jr. and his wife, Grace H. Whittier and her two brothers, Raymond and Alfred Nichols.
A Celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 6:00pm at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH, using the Carriage House entrance.
Burial will be private.
