Pearl Guilbert Johnstone, at 93,of Hanson, a Seamstress

Pearl Guilbert Johnstone of Hanson, MA formerly of Williston and Clearwater, Fl., passed peacefully March 17, 2016 after a valiant crusade against Dementia.

Mrs. Johnstone was born in Ellenberg, NY September 21, 1922 and moved to Massena, NY in the late 1930’s.

Mrs. Johnstone was a very talented seamstress. For many years she lived and worked in Massena until she moved to Florida where she continued to work for an elegant women’s dress shop, Lillie Rubin in Tampa, Fl.

She loved spending time with her loving family and cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crocheting, knitting, carpentry, and restoring antiques.

Pearl Guilbert Johnstone loving Mother and Grandmother and Great Grandmother is survived by her children Kim Guilbert of Walpole, MA and his wife Diane Fuller Guilbert also previously of Massena and their sons Scott and Kyle of Walpole, MA; Candace Borgeson of Hanson, MA and her husband Arthur and their children Heather Martin of Weymouth, MA and her husband Douglas and their son Gustaf; Kristen Donovan of Holbrook and her husband Brian and their daughter Grace; and Steven Borgeson of Hanson, MA; Sandra Hurley of Haverhill, MA and her husband Tom previously of Massena; and their children Alison Troup of Andover, MA, her husband Jim Troup and their children Samantha, Jacqueline and Elise; Michael Hurley of North Andover, MA and his wife Renee and their son Tyler. Mrs. Johnstone was predeceased by her husband Gerald (Jack) Guilbert in 1970 and George Johnstone in 2009. Mrs. Johnstone was one of eleven children. She is survived by one remaining sister, Joyce Avery and her husband Gordan (Bud) who presently reside in Massena, NY. Mrs. Johnstone is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews from NY to CA.

Her funeral service will be held Wednesday March 23 at 11 AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Burial will follow in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 10-11 AM.
