TAUNTON – Francisco DaRosa, husband of Etelvina (Barros) DaRosa, died at his Taunton home on March 16, 2016 surrounded by his family.
He was 81.
Born in Cape Verde, he was the son of the late Antonio and Domingas (Lopes) DaRosa.
Before moving to the United States in 1977, he served in the Portuguese Army.
For many years Francisco worked as a maintenance man on a cargo ship.
Later, he was employed by Leach and Garner where he did maintenance and annealing.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
In his spare time Francisco enjoyed watching TV, especially wrestling.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his son Jose “Jay” DaRosa of Taunton; his daughter, Dorothy Avelino and her husband John of Anaheim, CA; three brothers, Alvaro DaRosa and his wife Maria and Manuel DaRosa, all of Taunton and Jose Veiga of Pascoag, RI; a sister, Maria Avelino of Taunton; five grandchildren, Kathy, Melinda, Andrew, Stephanie and Tiffany; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Sebastian DaRosa.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday, March 21st at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 12 noon.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 20th from 5 to 8 p.m.
