Obituary

My beloved husband George H. Dutton joined his family in heaven on March 14, 2016. He was born in Natick, MA on December 18, 1937 to the late Harold and Sabatina Dutton. He attended Chicopee High School and received his GED while serving his country in the Army. He was employed with Spalding Sports Worldwide for 10 years and worked for 34 years for the City of Chicopee Water Department before retiring as General Foreman in 2001. He was a communicant of Holy Name Parish in Chicopee. George became an active member of the American Legion Post 452 assisting the legion baseball program. He became historian, Junior Vice-Commander, Senior Vice-Commander and was elevated through the ranks to Commander. He also served as a director of the Legion Home Association, a delegate to the County Legion District, a member of the Chicopee Patriotic Committee and was also finance officer. He liked watching the Red Sox, Bruins and New England Patriots games on television. He loved having his son Lou and grandchildren over for visits and enjoyed vacationing with his wife and family at Cape Cod, Hampden Beach and Lake George, NY. He leaves his loving wife of 53 years Elaine “Cookie” (De Angelis) Dutton of Chicopee, his son Louis Ronald Dutton of Taunton, MA, one sister Barbara Williams and her husband Roger of Chicopee, two grandchildren Carissa and Colin, his sisters-in-law Louise Finnie and her husband Jim, Jean O’Neil and her husband John, Lorraine Dutton, Dorothy Dutton and Dorothy Bassette, his nieces Karen Baker, Maureen Cannamela and Michelle Dutton, his nephews Zach Baker, Ronald Hlinka, Christopher O’Neil , David Dutton and Michael Dutton who were very special to him. He will also be missed by his loving friends Wayne Stec, Russell and Donna LaBelle, Timothy and Laura Nolan, Al and Helen Benard, Horst and Barbara Schwemmlein and long with many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his family especially his two loving grandchildren. Our family would like to give special thanks to Suzanne Hendy and the Baystate Hospital team who gave such compassion, commitment, loving care and friendship to George and our family. Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday March 17, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM at the Grise Funeral Home 280 Springfield St. Chicopee with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:30 PM with Military Honors to follow. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Baystate Medical Center Visiting
