Halloran, Phyllis Joan formerly of Wellesley, MA died peacefully on March 14, 2016 at North Hill, Needham, MA. She was 98 years old.
Born in Youngstown, Ohio, she was the only child of Dudley Steele and Marguerite Rice Hawkins. She attended Kent University before marrying her husband of 67 years, Gene Halloran, in 1940. In 1950, Phyllis and Gene moved to Wellesley, MA from Shaker Heights, Ohio where Gene became Managing Partner of the Boston office of Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Young) until his retirement in 1973. The couple spent many memorable years in Wellesley, MA with their two children, Bambi and Tim. After retirement, they enjoyed many more years together traveling between Osterville, MA and Atlantis, FL. They were both avid golfers and continued to enjoy the company of many close friends. They were former members of The Algonquin Club of Boston, Brae Burn Country Club, Atlantis Golf Club and the Oyster Harbors Club. They returned to Wellesley permanently in 1999.
Most importantly, Phyllis would often remark how grateful she was to have had such a close and loving family. She is predeceased by her husband, Eugene R. Halloran, and is survived by her daughter, Bambi J. Halloran of Wayland, MA, her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy R. and Colleen K. Halloran of Yarmouth Port, MA and her grandchildren, Maura E. and Christopher P. Halloran, both of Boston, MA.
