GILMANTON - Bartlett D. "Bart" Hooper III, 74, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
He was born on October 18, 1941 in Goffstown, the son of the late Bartlett D. and Beatrice (Huppe) Hooper. Bart attended New Boston High School and graduated with honors in 1959. He then attended the New Hampshire Technical College where he earned several Associate Degrees. He was a Master Electrician and had a long career as Plant Engineer at Sprague Electric in Concord, NH. A renaissance man through his life led him to excellence in singing, religion, politics and automotive repair. Bart was a volunteer fireman with Gilmanton Fire and Rescue for many years and was instrumental in the construction of the Iron Works station which serves as headquarters today. Among many other skills he was a master woodworker, an experienced skydiver, hunter and also ran enduro races in earlier years. Bart was a member and longtime treasurer of the Winnipesaukee Lodge #75 F&AM in Alton.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra (Hall) Hooper of Gilmanton, his children; Rebecca (Hooper) Witham and her husband James of Belmont, Bartlett D. Hooper IV and his wife, Sheri of Westford, MA, Todd G. Hooper and his wife Mary of Sanbornton and Tricia (Hooper) Comeau and her husband Dennis of Gilmanton, his brothers; Dennis Hooper of Goffstown and Patrick Hooper of Francestown, and many grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 2PM to 4PM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
