Obituary

Amy A. (Manchester) Wordell, 101, of Newport, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Village House Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Earl S. Wordell, Sr.
Amy was born on September 6, 1914 in Westport Point, MA. She was the daughter of the late Elmer B. and Lillie F. (Taber) Manchester. Amy was a Grange member for 88 years. She joined Westport Grange in 1928, Nonquit Grange in Tiverton and in recent years, the Little Compton Grange. She was a member of Amicable Church in Tiverton and worked on public suppers when she was younger. Amy was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter: Norma A. Elwell and her husband Walter of Little Compton; her son: Earl Sherman Wordell, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Little Compton; 9 grandchildren: David, Mark and Bruce Elwell, Kelly Pavao, Stacy Wordell, Douglas Wordell, Lisa Soboda, Nicole, Nicolas Wordell; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Brian Wordell and sister of the late Dorothy, Elmer B., Jr., Carlton, James and Russell Manchester.
At Amy's request, there will be no calling hours and services will be private.
