Fernando R. Tiongson of Somerville died Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Elizebeth Medical Center of Boston. Born and raised in The Philippines, he proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard for over 28 years, and was a member of the Top Three Military Retired Association, The Pilipino-American Association of New England, Inc., Fleet Reserve and The Retired Enlisted Association.
Fernando was the beloved husband of the late Caroline A. (Viscione), and the devoted father of Joseph and his wife Pamela DeMari of Florida, Carolann Hagerty and her husband David of Medford, Dennis DeMari and his wife Carleen of Plymouth, Andrew Tiongson and his wife Katherine of Laurel, MD. He was the loving grandfather of Carli, Cara-Lynn, Lisa, Erin, Katelynn and Dale, and the loving great grandfather of Christine, Caroline and Michaela. Fernando is also survived by his loving companion Joaquina Thibeau.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Wednesday, March 16 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church, 399 Medford St., Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday, March 15, from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
