Obituary

Robert N. Bigelow, 92, formerly of Marblehead, was called home to God on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Charlotte, NC. Born in Lynn he was the much loved son of the late William H. and Lottie M. (Jepson) Bigelow. Educated in Lynn schools, he joined the Army following his high school graduation. A veteran of W. W. II he served with the 41st Calvary (infantry) Reconnaissance Troop and received several service connected medals and decorations. Following his tour of duty he returned to Lynn and worked in automotive parts sales. The greater part of his career was with Standard Duplicators of which he became President of Sales

Known for his kindness and generosity, Bob’s deepest love was for his biological and extended family. He delighted in birthdays, holidays and family dinners. A good friend to many, following his retirement he and his friends spent most mornings at the Muffin Shop in Marblehead, solving many of the world’s problems. Three years ago Bob left Marblehead to live with his daughter and son-in-law in South Carolina where he made many new friends but, nothing brought him more pleasure than time spent with his great-granddaughters Channing and Quinlyn.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Cynthia B. Chalifour and her husband Daniel J. of Whitefield, NH and Indian Land, SC, his cherished granddaughter, Corrine C. Turner and her husband Barry J. of Charlotte, NC, and the apples of his eyes his great-granddaughters, Channing S. and Quinlyn A. Turner of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves several nieces and nephews including, Robert Thompson of Pittsburgh, PA, Charles and Michael Thompson of London England, Denise Seidman, Rick and Robbie Bigelow all of California as well as others throughout the country.

His family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114/ 1-A], Salem. His funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9:00 A.M on Wednesday, March 16th followed by his funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 85 Atlantic Ave., Marblehead. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.
