Margaret S. (Schmit) McChesney of Dover died on Friday June 24th at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. She was 74 years old. Raised and educated in Moorestown New Jersey, Mrs. McChesney was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle in New York. She taught elementary school in New Jersey and worked as a section manager in a retail department store in Philadelphia. A resident of Dover since 1976, Mrs. McChesney was a past president of the Wellesley Arts and Crafts Guild. She was an active volunteer in the town of Dover and also worked for the town building department. The beloved wife of Philip E. McChesney, she was the loving mother of P. Michael McChesney of Exeter NH, Patricia A. McChesney of Amherst, John E. McChesney of Walpole and Mary Ann McChesney of Boston. Sister of Mary Ann Schmit and Elizabeth Culp both of New Jersey and John P. Schmit of Virginia. She also leaves one granddaughter, Samantha Lee McChesney and many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue Needham on Tuesday June 28 at 9:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Centre Street Dover, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours on Monday from 7-9 PM. Interment private.
