Shirley E. (Sullivan) Hayes, 96, of Worcester, passed away Thursday, March 10th in her home. Her husband, John J. Hayes, died in in 1997. She leaves two sons, John S. Hayes of Worcester and Robert J. Hayes of TN; and two grandsons, William Hayes and Michael Hayes. She was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Sullivan.
She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Dennis and Elizabeth (McCauley) Hayes and graduated from Classical High School and Becker Junior College. She was a member of the former St. Charles Borromeo Parish and had volunteered at Fairlawn Hospital and for Hospice. Shirley was an avid tennis and bridge player.
Her funeral is Monday March 14th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. A visiting hour is from 9:00 until 10:00 A.M. Monday in the funeral home.
