Obituary

Paula Kay Shaw (Perkins), 61, of Prosser, Washington, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, after a courageous five year battle with cancer. She was born July 22, 1954, in Pendleton, Oregon, the daughter of Donna and the late Earl Perkins.
Paula graduated from Prosser High School with the class of 1972. On June 10, 1972 she was married to her beloved husband Gil Shaw in Prosser where they made their home and started their family. She spent her early married life as a homemaker and the best mom to her three sons that any kid could ask for.
In 1987 she began her 28 year career as a hair dresser. She and her business partner started “The Cut Above” hair salon in Prosser that she co-owned and operated for several years. She later went to work at the “Studio on Sixth” and finally retired at the end of 2015 due to her illness from the “Jagged Edge” salon where she had countless friends. Paula’s cliental was her extended family who she shared many stories of time spent with her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a football enthusiast and went to every one of her sons’ and grandsons’ football, baseball and basketball games. She also enjoyed gardening and baking goodies and her favorite past time was spent walking on the beach, camping and making memories with her family that she absolutely loved and cherished.
She is survived by her husband Gil Shaw of 43 years and their three sons Nick (daughter Tnamaree); Keith (wife Rachel, sons Kadence, Kashus and Kanon); and Mike (sons Ryland, Owen and Liam); mother Donna Perkins; siblings Jim Perkins (wife Terri) and Tony Perkins (wife Donna) as well as an aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Paula is reunited in Heaven with her dad Earl Perkins and sister, Linda Perkins.
She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend with best smile and contagious laugh. Her generous, fiercely positive attitude and vibrant spirit will be missed deeply by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bethel Church, 270 N. Gap Road in Prosser on Saturday, March 19th from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
