William E. “Bill” Freer, age 69 of Brockton died peacefully March 9, 2016 at home after a period of failing health. Bill was born in Brockton, a son of the late Harvey and Eileen (McKiernan) Freer and also the son of Meredith (Carlson) Freer. A 1964 graduate of Brockton High School, Bill was a lifelong resident of Brockton. While at Brockton High School he lettered in football.
He retired as a traffic manager at Quality Beverage in Taunton after many years of service.
He enjoyed summers in Duxbury boating and fishing. He was a Patriots season ticket holder for many years and enjoyed golf. His true indulgence was sitting in his garage smoking a cigar.
Bill is survived by a brother and 2 sisters, Jay Freer of Marshfield, Susan Newberg, wife of the late Merle of Pembroke and Jayne Pinto and her husband John of Orange, CT. He leaves 3 nieces and 1 nephew, Cassie Berger, Rachel Walsh, Christin Pinto and Michael Pinto. He also leaves several cousins.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St (Rte 123) Brockton on Friday, 3-7pm with a prayer service at 6:30pm. Cremation will follow.
