Obituary

Bedford- Helen Seaber passed away peacefully on March 2, 2016 at The Arbors of Bedford, surrounded by her loving family over the last several days of her declining health. She moved from Westernport, Maryland in 2007 to Bedford, New Hampshire to live with her daughter, Marsha and her husband, Dick Rawlings. She had been a resident of The Arbors of Bedford since August 2014.
Helen was born in Cadet, Virginia on July 23, 1916, the daughter of the late William Gray and Annie (Mathews) Slough. In her early years, her parents moved frequently to various communities in Virginia due to her father’s work, but they ultimately moved to Cumberland, Maryland, and a few years later she graduated from Alleghany High School in 1934. About four years later, on June 3, 1938, she married William H. Seaber, Jr., and started their life together in Bill’s hometown of Westernport. Bill and Helen enjoyed a wonderful life together, with countless numbers of friends with whom they shared fun times together over the years. They were avid golfers, enjoying the game immensely. They were also accomplished Bridge players, playing quite often with their friends.
Helen was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She also served as a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild, as well as a member of the Bethlehem Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Sadly she lost her loving husband, Bill, on November 24, 1986. She was also predeceased by her only sibling, William Homer Slough on September 18, 1984, and a grandson, Richard L. Rawlings, Jr. on May 6, 1971.
Helen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Marsha, her husband, Dick, granddaughters, Melanie Rawlings who lives in Concord, New Hampshire, and Allison Pappenfus and husband Chris, and her precious great grandsons, Ryan, Brendan and Micah Pappenfus, who live in Omaha, Nebraska.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Arbors of Bedford and Brookhaven Hospice Care for the excellent care given Helen during this difficult time.
