Shirley Reid was born Feb 10th 1928 in Worcester, Mass to the late Darell and Lura MacFarland. She fell asleep in death March 5th 2016 in her home in Harwich, Mass.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Donald Reid, whom she married in 1948. She is survived by her sister Joyce (Edward) Seferian, her brother Darell (Nina) MacFarland, her sons David (Anna-Marie), Kevin (Lynn) and Philip, her grandchildren Michael, Melissa, Gregory (Samantha) and Steven (Estefania) and one great granddaughter Alison, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a loving person. She was always surrounded by people and her house was known to be open to all friends and family. Everyone appreciated her for her generosity, good sense of humor and making everyone feel welcomed and special. Shirley loved God’s creation, particularly, birds that would flock to her backyard and she moved others to share in that appreciation.
Shirley had been one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 60 years and was a member of the Harwich Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She believed her hope was once again to live on earth when it is made a paradise as promised in the Bible. Shirley will be greatly missed until that time arrives.
A memorial talk will be held Saturday, March 19th, 2016 at 2pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 316 Old Bass River Rd, South Dennis, MA.
