Obituary

Edward A. "Ed" Rolinson, a 20 year resident of Melrose and formerly of Winthrop and Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose. He was 67 years old.

Ed was born in Boston on September 27, 1948, a son of the late Stanley Rolinson and Lillian (Kelley) Rolinson. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Ed enlisted into the United States Army on October 10, 1969 and served his country with courage and honor during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on March 16, 1974 with the rank of Private First Class. Ed worked as an Investigator for many years with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement.

Ed is the beloved husband of 43 years to Christine (Kerr) Rolinson. He is the devoted father of Amy Deacon and her husband Peter of Amesbury, and Sarah Patuto and her husband Mark of Melrose. He is the loving Grandpa to Veronica and Elizabeth Deacon. He is the beloved brother of Lillian "Sissy" Amann, Francis Rolinson, John "Jackie" Rolinson, Barbara Higgins, Robert Rolinson, and the late Lorraine McSorley and James Michael Rolinson.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Ed's Funeral on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 10 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. His burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Roslindale. His visiting hours will be on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
